Design is the most interesting and eye-catching part of the Oppo Find X smartphone. The display of the phone occupies as much as 94% of the total front panel area. The developers have achieved this effect by hiding the main details under the body of the smartphone. Front-facing camera, flash, infrared scanner, earpiece - all this is pulled out when the camera or infrared scanner is activated.
Such a solution, perhaps, can be called progressive. Since in order to increase the diagonal of the display, an increase in the device itself is not required. True, the durability of this method of hiding can only be found out by the end of 2018.
The bezel design features a single continuous display and a neatly integrated earpiece. No mechanical or navigation buttons.
The back of the smartphone is designed non-standard - the photo module is centered, and also fully extends or slides behind the body. If you do not extend the cameras, then the only thing on the rear panel is the company logo and overflows on the sides.
At the bottom there is a multimedia speaker and USB Type-C.
The smartphone itself can be painted in two colors - blue and red.
The main issue with the Oppo Find X is reliability. Yes, the smartphone has a very attractive design and high functionality, but at the expense of practicality and reliability. Due to the fact that the camera constantly extends and retracts, the smartphone acquires several problems at once.
The Oppo Find X is powered by an 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. The first cluster of cores clocked at 2.8 GHz, and the second at 1.7 GHz. The processor has a very high level of performance and is also a direct competitor to Kirin. It pulls absolutely all the novelties of the gaming industry in 2018, producing stable 55-60 FPS in almost all games. Also, the phone has a built-in graphics accelerator Adreno 630. The video chip, like the processor, can be attributed to the "stuffing" that is in most flagships. So the performance of the Oppo Find X cannot be blamed.
Autonomy is standard, the phone can work for a day with active use or 2 days in a not particularly loaded mode. The battery has a capacity of 3730 mAh. The smartphone also supports Oppo VOOC fast charging technology and is able to reach a full battery charge in 35 minutes.
The smartphone has 256 gigabytes of RAM, but there is a version in which only 128 GB is installed. This is a very important point, since the gadget does not support cards for expanding the internal memory. Also, the phone has a standard, "flagship" amount of RAM - 8 gigabytes, which allows you not to lose performance during prolonged use.
The phone has only 1 speaker, which is strange. After all, if the phone bears the title of "flagship", then it must have stereo sound. The sound reproduction itself through the speakers is clear and without any noise, which is inherent in most Chinese phones. The sound is written in all popular formats, so there should be no problems with further editing.
Oppo Find X has the most bezel-less display yet. The display has a Super AMOLED matrix and Full HD + resolution (2340x1080 pixels). In the sun, the screen displays a juicy picture and does not glare. The high resolution and large diagonal are ideal for any task, from watching videos to reading books and surfing the Internet. The entire screen is completely covered with Gorilla Glass 6 and also has an oleophobic coating. Due to the "artificial intelligence", the display does not respond to accidental touches, like those that usually happen when you hold a smartphone with both hands. The display itself occupies 94% of the entire front part, thereby confirming the title of the most frameless smartphone.
The phone has a standard set of cameras - 1 front and dual main. Now everything is in order. The main camera has 16 MP and an aperture of f / 2.0, and the auxiliary camera is as much as 20 MP, and an aperture of f / 2.2. The front camera received 20 megapixels (f / 2.2) and optical stabilization like the main photo module. Initially, all cameras are hidden under the body of the smartphone, and if you need to take a photo, they move out in 0.5 seconds.
Here's an example of a photo taken with the main camera:
And here is how it “takes pictures” in bright light:
An example of how to photograph at night:
It immediately becomes noticeable that the cameras artificially increase the brightness if the scene is poorly lit. But if we consider the cases in which the camera takes pictures in good lighting, then the pictures are quite sharp, even if you zoom in on the picture. This is not to say that the cameras of the Oppo Find X occupy a leading position among the popular flagships, however, they clearly outstrip most of the best manufacturers in the middle category.
The phone has a proprietary shell Color OC 5. Someone criticizes it because of the inconvenience in use, while someone, on the contrary, praises it.In order to finally resolve this issue, it is worth examining the features of the Oppo Find X in a little more detail, in particular its launcher.
Color OC 5 took the Samsung Experience shell as a basis, but the interface still looks like an IOS. This is not to say that it is terrible and unusable, but there are some flaws in it. For example, when notifications arrive, they cannot be removed in the "blind" with just one movement, you have to confirm the deletion of the notification every time. Or another problem that was adopted from IOS - limitation. A smartphone cannot be configured to autorun more than 5 applications. This limitation is not entirely clear, because the phone has a top-end Snapdragon 845, which is able to withstand such a load without any problems.
Despite the problems described above, the phone has a lot of useful features. For example, Always on Display. This function displays basic information on the display of the smartphone, even when it is in sleep mode. Another useful feature is automatic face recognition. The moment you need to unlock the smartphone screen, the O-Face function is activated. The unlocking itself is pretty quick, but do not forget about the camera pulling out, which takes 0.5 seconds. The camera is capable of recognizing a face in complete darkness and from any angle, which is a plus.
The system has its drawbacks due to the early release of the model. But the developers will quickly "fix" most of the bugs. So a small number of updates are needed to keep the system running smoothly.
The average price at the start of sales is $ 1,000 or 67,000 rubles. On the territory of Kazakhstan, Oppo Find X can be purchased at a price of 360,000 tenge. Such a price, even taking into account all the technical characteristics and features, can hardly be called “justified”. If only for the reason that in one year, most models will receive the same filling and functionality as the Oppo Find X, and the price, at the same time, will not exceed $ 500.
Oppo’s situation can be compared to that of Apple, whose popularity is based solely on the cult. Yes, smartphones have their own characteristics and good performance. However, overpaying for what is essentially a "wrapper" does not make much sense. There are many models on the market that have similar parameters and functionality, while the buyer pays for the characteristics, and not for the brand.
The Oppo Find X is a smartphone that clearly stands out from its peers. It has a beautiful minimalist design with high functionality that will delight most users. The technical "stuffing" is ideal for active games and shows stable performance under any load. Yes, someone may not like such a bold decision in design and functionality. However, Oppo began to pay special attention to innovative solutions and move in a new direction for itself. Here is a short list of the pros and cons of the Oppo Find X smartphone:
Choosing a smartphone is a very responsible and sometimes very difficult process. After all, you need to choose exactly the smartphone that will satisfy most needs. Here are the selection criteria to consider when choosing a new gadget:
There are 3 ways to buy a smartphone.
The first is buying from an online store. This method is characterized by a slightly undervalued product. But the low cost, relative to the average, is offset by a large number of problems. You never know in what state a purchase will arrive and whether it will arrive at all.
The second way is to buy at your local hardware store. The most common option, which hardly requires any explanation. The advantage of this method is the ability to ask the consultant about the product, but remember that the only goal the seller has is to sell. Therefore, it is worthwhile to first familiarize yourself with the characteristics and read the reviews about the purchased product.
The third way is to buy a used smartphone. There are also disadvantages and advantages here. The main disadvantage is unreliability and lack of warranty. The main plus is the cost, which is often cut by 40-50% of the original cost.
Unfortunately, there is no exact answer to this question. There are manufacturers who clearly inflate the price for their product, while being at the same level in terms of functionality and characteristics. There are also companies that produce inexpensive smartphones, while managing to copy most of the "chips" of expensive flagships. But there are also bona fide companies that produce quality smartphones. Here is a short list of similar firms:
