Founded in 1984, the country's only state museum-reserve dedicated to the writer M.A. Sholokhov, his life and work: the museum keeps more than 70,000 items that once belonged to the writer's family, including numerous documents, manuscripts, letters, personal belongings. The museum was officially opened in 1938, but the collection of the museum began its formation much earlier, representing at the beginning of the 20th century. exhibitions of paintings by Russian artists.
