Sony Corporation began its journey in the spring of 1946 in Tokyo. Over time, the enterprise has grown into a huge conglomerate that produces a variety of electronic products and has established itself as a quality and reliable manufacturer.
But in addition to technical products, Sony also owns record companies and film studios around the world.
Beginning in 2001, the corporation began working with Ericsson, jointly releasing mobile phones. But the companies eventually existed in the commonwealth for 10 years and then the Swedes left the partnership. Therefore, since 2012, all phones have been produced only under the Sony brand.
The corporation's mobile devices are known for their high quality and reliability, therefore they quickly won the trust of consumers.
Sony's main credo is flexibility. The company is also not indifferent to environmental issues and is trying to achieve minimum greenhouse gas emissions at its factories.
According to information leaks from insiders, the Tokyo-based company is preparing to release a new model from the Xperia line - 5 Plus. This smartphone will be an improved model of the "five", while the design and some characteristics will change. And we will see how the Japanese understanding of the concept of a modern smartphone differs from the Chinese. Needless to say, Sony has always been at the forefront of progress, and in this case the company once again wants to emphasize its belonging to the top echelon of mobile technology manufacturers.

The originality of the Xperia 5 plus starts with the camera block. While the whole world is chasing megapixels, Sony decided to go its own way. In support of the trend of the bygone 2019, the model was equipped with a quad camera. But, the functionality of matrices is very different from that of competitors. The maximum resolution of the main module is 12 megapixels, which is quite modest by modern standards. Although some sources indicate the possibility of installing a matrix with a resolution of 64 megapixels in this smartphone. It is a 26mm universal lens with a 78-degree field of view and is equipped with an eye AF system.
The second module with a telephoto lens and a resolution of 12 megapixels is perfect for portrait photography. There is also an optical image stabilization system and eye AF. Viewing angle 45 degrees.
The third module - with an ultra wide-angle lens, has, similar to the previous one, a resolution of 12 megapixels. The viewing angle is 130 degrees.
A fourth manufacturer installed a ToF time-of-flight camera for long-range imaging.
Dual LED flash is provided for shooting at night.
The front camera, or rather its placement, will delight fans of a holistic screen, tk. rendered on a rather thin upper frame. No notches or ridiculous ledges - just a clean rectangular display.
The matrix resolution, by the way, is also far from being a record one, only 8 megapixels. The camera supports gesture capture and smile detection. And using the screen as a flash will allow you to take selfies in the dark.
This is where the Tokyo company showed the full power of its developments. No wonder Sony has been one of the leading TV manufacturers for many years. All engineering experience is concentrated on the smartphone screen. By the way, not a small, as much as 6.6 inches, screen, not in every hand this one can comfortably fit. And all because of the resolution, 1080 x 2520 pixels with an aspect ratio of 21: 9, almost 4K.
No wonder the manufacturer is actively involved in the production of films; watching a film on such a screen is a pleasure. The display itself is made using OLED technology, which allows the image to not fade even in bright sunlight.
The density of pixels per inch is 415 ppi, which will not allow them to be seen with the naked eye, and this will also have a beneficial effect on viewing content. And the proprietary Triluminos technology, familiar from TVs, will be appreciated by all users. Add to this the compliance with the HDR BT.2020 standard, 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space and the protective Gorilla Glass 6 coating, and as a result, we get not a display, but a piece of candy.
An eight-core Qualcomm SM8150 Snapdragon 855 processor (7 nm) was used as the base of the chipset. Quite a good solution.Coupled with the Adreno 640 video core and 6 GB of RAM on board, we can say that the device turned out to be quite fast and modern games will run on it.
The built-in memory is offered to us 128 GB, if it seems to someone this is not enough, then it can be increased by means of a memory card. The slot for expanding memory will not be in all smartphones, but only in Dual SIM models. In this case, the slot is combined, so you have to choose either a second mobile operator or memory.
The Xperia 5 plus has a built-in 5G Snapdragon X55 modem, but this is not relevant in the Russian Federation, because 5G communication does not work for us. Also, the device has:
The smartphone will be controlled by a pure Android 10 operating system.
Sony products have always had a distinctive look. And when developing this model, the designers did not disappoint either. While all over the world manufacturers make smartphones with rounded and flowing shapes, the product of Tokyo is deliberately angular.
As the back cover, it was decided to use glass with a protective coating, like the screen, Gorilla Glass 6. The frame, brutal-looking with straight edges, is made of aluminum. On the top edge of the case there is a 3.5 mm jack for wired headphones. And on the bottom there is a connector for charging and data transfer USB 3.1 Type-C 1.0. It is impossible not to mention the sound of the device, music lovers will appreciate it. No wonder Sony is also a leading developer of audio equipment. The smartphone has full stereo sound with support for low frequencies.
Not surprisingly, at 6.6 inches, Sony has equipped the smartphone with a 4,000mAh battery. According to average performance indicators, this volume should be enough for no more than two days of use. And the 18 W charger included in the kit will pump the battery with energy as quickly as possible.
The pricing policy of branded companies is always different from striving for the minimum cost of the product. So in this case, the preliminary price will be about $ 850. Which is clearly overpriced against the background of cheaper analogues from the Middle Kingdom.
The financial success of the model will depend on the demand for it from buyers. With the modern variety of mobile technology, this will be very difficult to achieve.
A very interesting, one might even say, a conceptual model of a smartphone that runs counter to modern trends. The design that stands out from the competition, the great display and the good specs should appeal to its audience. Time will show how justified this movement will be for Sony.
