The Chinese giant Huawei has announced two new mid-range Enjoy series at once, namely the 9e and 9s models. At first glance, both devices are indistinguishable from each other, but upon closer examination, many interesting details emerge.

Huawei Enjoy 9s

The Chinese market is specific, and the struggle is fierce. Xiaomi with its Redmi line is the king of the hill, whose place competitors want to take. The latter tirelessly try to surpass the Redmi line, if not in quality, then in price / quality ratio. The result of these attempts is always doubtful, with rare exceptions, for example, ASUS with its ZenFone. The Taiwanese may have been inferior to the Chinese in camera performance, but otherwise surpassed him by a head. This time, Xiaomi is challenged by compatriots in the face of Huawei. They presented the Enjoy 9s smartphone, which according to the declared characteristics is comparable to the model Note 7 from competitors. The novelty has every chance of surpassing the aforementioned smartphone for many reasons.

Design

The front of the 9s is completely similar to the Note 7. The wide bottom and the “droplet” cutout for the front camera are identical. The smaller diagonal is noteworthy, which is 6.21 inches. The resolution is similar to the competitor - 1080 x 2340 Mpx. Dimensions do not go beyond decent. The weight is 160 g. This is quite light weight by modern standards. The matrix of the IPS format occupies 9/10 of the entire front panel. The space is covered by 84%. It is noteworthy that there is an eye protection standard called Eye Comfort Mode.

The back is completely glass, which gives the phone an expensive look, especially against the background of modern plastic cases. The triple camera module is arranged in the same way as the module of the P20 pro model. Nearby is a fingerprint scanner. The 9s is equipped with a classic headphone jack, which is a plus, but it lacks the classic microUSB, which is a minus. Especially when comparing the new product with a direct competitor from Xiaomi, that is, with the Note 7, which has all the traditional ports in stock. Another disadvantage of the smartphone from Huawei is that the engineers did not find places for the near-field module (payment of the bill using a smartphone) and an additional slot for a memory card. The user will have to face a choice: either 2 SIM cards, or 1, but with an installed SD card.

Filling

Hardware is not original - the developer stuck to the goal of creating a quality product without reinventing the wheel. The smartphone runs on a proprietary Kirin 710 chipset at 12 nm. The Cortex-A73 cores deliver 2.2GHz peak power. Simple operations are left to the auxiliary A53 cores. The power of the latter reaches 1.7 GHz. Graphics processes are reserved for the Mali-G51 chipset, which has established itself as a good and durable video adapter.

The 9s model is presented only in two memory layouts: 64GB / 128GB, while the amount of RAM in both versions is the same - 4GB. The amount of RAM in 4 GB by modern standards is more than enough for any operations performed by a smartphone, from games to working in applications, but the figures of the competitor Note 7 are higher - 6 GB.Despite the fact that the RAM numbers in the 9s are lower than in the Note 7, the new product from Huawei still boasts excellent optimization that unlocks the full 4GB of RAM. The volumes of ROM indicated above (64/128 GB) can be easily supplemented with a memory card up to 512 GB, so that the indicators are enough for all occasions.

Cameras

The camera is the most interesting part of the Enjoy series. It consists of 3 lenses: 24, 16 and 2 megapixels. The main lens carries 24 megapixels, it does the main work. The 16 megapixel lens provides adequate focal length and wide angle. The last 2MP lens is auxiliary - it works with depth and sharpness. The camera is equipped with a special calculation algorithm that adjusts the saturation of color and lighting. For shooting at night, the developer equipped the phone with a HiVision mode. An impressive indicator is the ability to record video in Slow Motion at 480 frames / second.

Selfie camera parameters are standard for modern times and are not original. It carries 8 megapixels and allows you to take good selfies, but no more.

Battery

The battery capacity of the new 9s is 3400 mAh - an average. The 10 watt charger is a clear advantage of the smartphone, especially against the background of the average battery performance. The 10-watt device will provide a quick charge and will match other devices with a similar connector. The Enjoy 9s smartphone from Huawei runs on the 9th Android version of Pie. Along with the flagship of the middle segment in the face of Enjoy 9s, Huawei is announcing a budget version of the same model under the name Enjoy 9e. The simplified model is not much different from its brother in the line. The developer's goal was to maximize the distribution of the new Enjoy, so they simply made their flagship cheaper and named it 9e.

Design

The design of the e-version is completely similar to that of its older brother. The same large display that occupies 9/10 of the surface of the front of the smartphone, the same glass back, giving the phone an aristocratic look. Weight and dimensions are shown by those figures: 160 grams and dimensions at 158.9 x 76.9 x 8.1 mm.

More about the look: the 6.09-inch screen occupies more than 85% of the front part of the smartphone, its surface is protected by specially tempered glass. The matrix resolution is slightly lower than in the s-version and is 1560 x 720 pixels, which fits into the HD + format frames. The aspect ratio is 19.5 / 9, which is slightly larger than traditional sizes. The technical component of the e-version turned out to be more original than one might think - it has a number of significant differences from the s-version. The mechanics of the apparatus deserves a separate consideration. After all, the processor chip and the amount of RAM for the models differ, even in terms of total work.

The technical aspect of the Enjoy 9e smartphone is based on the Helio P35 processor from the manufacturer MediaTek. The chipset produces 12 units of the technical process. The processor carries 8 cores, which at their peak deliver up to 2.3 GHz of power. As in the general s-version, some of the kernels take on the heavier work, while the other is responsible for simple processes. The choice of configurations, unlike the flagship, is absent. The Enjoy 9e phone is only available in 64GB ROM / 3GB RAM layout. Interestingly, in the younger version, the engineers still found a place for the SD card so that the user did not have to give up using 2 SIM cards at once.

Cameras

The front camera of the e-version has 8 megapixels and is similar in all characteristics to the Enjoy 9s selfie camera. The same proprietary enhancers, AI algorithms that analyze exposure and other parameters, technologies for working with faces. The latter work conscientiously, so the user can be confident in their selfies. The main camera carries a 13 megapixel sensor and its lens has a radius of f.1.8. It is believed that lenses with this aperture are capable of capturing half as much light as optics with an aperture of 2.2. Battery and communications

The Enjoy 9e battery is slightly inferior in terms of the older model, its capacity is 3020 mAh. There is no fast charging option. These capacities are enough for 8-12 hours of games and active operation of multimedia extensions and for 17-20 hours in measured mode.

Wireless configurations are complete except for near-field technology. The presence of a classic microUSB connector is noteworthy, because the older version does not have it. Apparently the engineers changed their minds during the development and decided not to deprive the smartphone of a convenient and universal port. The FM radio module is a clear plus. OS

Just like in the older version, the Enjoy 9e model carries the Android 9.0 version Pie system. An adapted skin from the manufacturer EMUI 9.0 is also present on the simplified model. Interesting details lie in the fact that the manufacturer decided to make a bias towards the sound of a simplified device and equipped the system with a number of auxiliary extensions for sound.
