Smartphones have long and firmly established themselves in our life, taking a rather important place in it. Currently, the market for these devices offers such a variety of gadgets for every taste and budget that often the question arises of how to choose the right model. For some, the criterion when choosing a smartphone is the price, others compare the advantages and disadvantages, someone relies on a list of popular models and new products or ratings of the best manufacturers.
One of the manufacturers that have established themselves in the smart device market is ASUS. Established in 1989 in Taiwan as a small business for the production of motherboards for computers, ASUS has come a long way, gradually expanding the range of products, and confidently made its way into the list of the largest leaders in offering quality and reliable products.
In the past few years, the company has introduced a whole line of pretty decent ZenFone smartphones. This article provides a detailed overview of one of the budget models in this series - the ASUS ZenFone ZB452KG smartphone. The average price of this device is about 4900 rubles.

This model, like the entire ZenFone line, has a rather nice design and ergonomic shape. The ASUS ZenFone ZB452KG smartphone has been released since 2016. It measures 137 * 67 * 11.2 and weighs only 125 grams, making it feel light and compact in the hand.
Almost the entire front surface is traditionally occupied by a capacitive touch screen, the size of the diagonal of which is 4.5 inches, and the expansion is 480 * 854 pixels. Screen type IPS, with TFT matrix.
Below, under the display, there is an unusual ribbed plastic surface that looks very interesting.
The back of the phone is made of matte plastic and does not slip in your hands. Its peculiarity is that it is removable and, if desired, can be replaced with a panel of a different color. The range of colors provided is quite wide, and in addition to the traditional black, white, silver and gold, it includes bright colors: yellow, red, blue. For young people, this can be another opportunity to somehow stand out.
An interesting solution from ASUS is the volume control button located in the middle of the rear panel, just below the camera. Another non-standard feature is the power and unlock button. It is located on top, and not on the side, as is most often located on other smartphones. This is quite unusual for users, but it can be convenient when using, for example, in a car, when the phone is in a special holder.
Also on the bottom of the case there is a micro-USB connector and a main microphone, and on top there is a mini / micro-jack headset jack and an additional microphone.
Speaking about the technical characteristics, it should be noted that the quad-core Qualcomm MSM8212 processor with a frequency of 1.2 GHz gives the device the ability to cope well with many applications and games. The amount of RAM is 1 GB. At the same time, the smartphone works quite quickly. The built-in memory that the user can use is 8GB.But if that doesn't seem enough, the device has a microSD card slot under the rear panel, due to which the memory can be increased, however, by no more than 64GB.
The operating system used is Android 5.1, with a proprietary ZenUI shell. The device supports GSM 900,1800,1900, 3G, but there is no LTE (4G) support. Nevertheless, the gadget has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth receivers. The battery capacity is 2070 mAh, which allows the gadget to work up to 5 hours of talk time and about 270 hours of standby time.
The smartphone has the ability to install 2 SIM cards operating in alternating mode. Both MicroSIM cards, as well as an additional SD memory card, are located inside the phone, under the back panel, that is, in order to pull them out or insert them, the panel must be removed. The device has the ability to exchange data between a SIM card and internal memory, which may be needed, for example, when transferring contacts from one device to another.
In addition, the smartphone makes it possible to listen to audio in MP3 format and set it on a call, listen to the radio, play the conversation through the speaker (speakerphone), simultaneously talk with several people (conference calls), and make video calls. Also, for the convenience of the user, there is a vibration signal, speed dialing, the ability to mute the microphone during a call, a voice recorder, a calendar, a calculator, a flashlight and other similar functions that are now available on almost any phone.
The ASUS ZenFone ZB452KG smartphone also has ambient light and proximity sensors, a compass, a built-in GPS, an installed organizer, and support for office documents (PDF, Doc, Xls).
Of course, this smartphone also has a camera. More precisely, even two: main and frontal. The resolution of the main camera is only 5 megapixels, the aperture is f / 2. There is a built-in one-color LED flash, autofocus, touch focus, panorama shooting, face detection, movie shooting, self-timer, white balance and ISO setting, HDR shooting. Of course, these characteristics are rather weak to get excellent quality pictures, but they are quite enough to “document” a fact or just keep some event in memory. The front camera has a resolution of only 0.3 megapixels, which makes it possible to obtain a maximum expansion of photography of 730 * 411 pixels, and an aperture of f / 2.4.
The package includes a charger, USB cable and instructions.
Considering all the above descriptions and technical characteristics, as well as the average price of this device, we can say that this model has quite good functionality, but like other inexpensive smartphones, it has its own advantages and disadvantages.
We can conclude that this device will probably appeal to those who buy it mainly for work: making calls, sending and receiving messages, working with e-mail and documents. All the applications required for this work fine. In this mode of use, the gadget can work without recharging the whole day, which is just important for people who use the phone as a "workhorse". But the device is unlikely to be suitable for avid fans of active games on a smartphone, hanging in it day and night and constantly updating their toys.
Fans of games on a smartphone are better off looking for another option, since this device is clearly not tailored for gamers. It is also doubtful that this model will delight lovers of good photography or social networks, who shoot everything around and themselves, and constantly update their pages on the network.
If all these characteristics and reviews still make you doubt the advisability of buying the ASUS ZenFone ZB452KG, then a comparison with similarly priced offers can help you make a choice. For example, the table below shows a comparison of this model with a smartphone no less famous than ASUS - Samsung Galaxy J1 mini, as well as a comparison with a Chinese gadget of a much less promoted, but at the same time quite popular, brand Doogee, Doogee x53.

And everyone decides for himself which company smartphone is better to choose: whether to focus on the big name of the manufacturer, or on the characteristics of the device itself, rely on user reviews, or look only at the technical characteristics.
