LG W30 Pro smartphone: review of the first budget employee with a unique design

Among the mobile devices of the South Korean company LG, a new branch of smartphones has appeared - the W series. For the first time in the history of the manufacturer, phones with decent parameters appeared at a relatively low cost. Initially, the lineup included the W10, W30 and W30 Pro. The latter will be discussed in this article. All the details are below.

Finally, LG representatives were convinced that a powerful, productive and multifunctional smartphone does not have to be expensive. LG W30 Pro is the first budget smartphone from the manufacturer, which is equipped with three main camera modules and impressive hardware. The central processor is Snapdragon 632, 4 GB of RAM - such a system is enough to support most demanding applications. The screen in the device is considerable, the diagonal is 6.21 inches, and the resolution is 720x1520. The ratio of resolution and screen does not inspire confidence, but the smartphone will surprise you with a well-developed matrix. In general, the LG W30 Pro is a serious device when compared with the manufacturer's previous devices.

Design and ergonomics

The appearance of the device deserves the highest praise. Designers have carefully approached the issue and created a magnificent case, painted in memorable shades. The range of colors includes dark green, black, pink and blue. The material used is a high-strength plastic that covers the back cover and end surfaces. The dimensions of the smartphone are impressive: length 177.7 mm, width 76.9 mm, thickness 8.3 mm, but thanks to the rounded corners of the design, the gadget sits comfortably in the hand. Product weight is 172 grams. There are no complaints about the build quality, the plastic case does not bend or creak under the influence of moderate pressure. The power key and the volume control, which are slightly unstable on the seats, may seem defective. However, doubts are quickly dispelled by using a silicone case.

There are no innovations in terms of the placement of control elements. On the back panel there is a triple main camera module, an LED flash, a fingerprint scanner and a manufacturer's logo located at the bottom. On the front surface, strictly in the center of the upper edge, is the front camera lens. The chin and eyebrow practically do not take up space on the panel. On the right side there are control keys, on the left there is a slot for two Nano SIM-cards and a microSD slot.The upper part bears a 3.5 mm audio jack, a notification sensor and a microphone, and on the lower edge there is a micro-usb port and a main speaker.

The LG W30 Pro screen is controversial. The diagonal of the product is 6.21 inches, the aspect ratio is 19: 9, and the resolution is 720x1520. Such an indicator does not inspire confidence, and if we also take into account the pixel density (271 ppi), it becomes clear that this display belongs to the low-price category. However, the situation is saved by a high-quality matrix developed using IPS LCD technology. Despite the low density, the image is completely non-grainy and emits natural colors. The viewing angles in the display are large, the brightness is high, so the smartphone can be safely used in strong sunlight. If you use the device as an e-book at night, your eyes will practically not get tired, since there is a soft image adjustment in the system settings. When you adjust the color balance, the blue tones are reduced, which improves the perception of the picture.

Iron and performance

LG W30 Pro is equipped with a mid-range chipset - Qualcomm Snapdragon 632. This core is controlled by a quad-core Kryo 250 Gold processor with a clock speed of 1.8 GHz and a quad-core processor Kryo 250 Silver with a frequency of 1.8 GHz. The chipset was manufactured in accordance with a 14nm manufacturing process supporting an artificial intelligence system. The RAM in the smartphone is 4 GB, and the built-in memory is 64 GB. There is support for microSD up to 256 GB. The graphics accelerator is the Adreno 506 processor, which supports gaming optimizing applications. The joint work of the system calmly copes with everyday tasks and moderately pulls most demanding games. Gaming beasts such as PUBG, World of Tanks Blitz, Asphalt 9 Legends and NBA live operate at medium settings with a stable 30 fps. As for a budget device, the LG W30 Pro is making strides in performance and hardware functionality.

The operating system in the smartphone is Android 9 Pie, covered with a standard, clean shell. All services are managed quickly, system applications work without errors, glitches and freezes are not observed.

Autonomy

There are no problems with autonomy in the phone, the battery capacity is 4000 mAh. Considering the screen resolution and CPU power consumption, the battery consumption is more than enough for several days of busy, uninterrupted work. Unfortunately, there is no wireless charging, but support for fast energy replenishment is considered a pleasant bonus. This process takes 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Camera

The device has a three modular rear camera of average quality. The main sensor has 12 MP and is limited to an f / 2.0 aperture, the second sensor is considered wide-angle and has 8 MP, and the third acts as a depth measurement sensor and has 5 MP. The pictures are dubious - relatively bright, moderately contrasting, detail is slightly missed. In general, the quality of the photos corresponds to the price segment of the device.

The front camera is also not particularly shining, 16 MP and an aperture of f / 1.8 is enough for taking good portrait shots.

Communication and communications

In terms of communication equipment, the smartphone will not surprise you with anything. There is a one-way Wi-Fi module and Bluetooth with a data transfer rate of 4.2 Mbps. In terms of navigation capabilities, there is support for A-GPS and GLONASS, the cold start of the connection with the satellite is 5 seconds. There is no NFC module, so contactless payment lovers should bypass the device. The transfer rate of information between a computer and a mobile device via the USB 2.0 port is 21 MB / s.

Sound

The sound system of LG W30 Pro differs from many budget smartphones with a high-quality audio chip, thanks to which the user will enjoy listening to music on headphones.It would seem that the stereo speaker should get the same level of quality, but the developers saved on it. The sound in the main speaker is just awful - constant distortion, lack of proper volume and low volume. It is worth using this site only when watching movies and videos.

The speaker for conversations is well developed, the sound is clear, the volume is high, the interlocutor is heard well.

If we compare the W30 Pro with similar devices in the same price segment, then it is better to pay attention to the Xiaomi Redmi 7. The Chinese budget employee can boast of similar characteristics, and in addition will provide a durable protective glass Corning Gorilla Glass 5, a more powerful camera and wireless charging. A small minus is a darker design. Its cost is within 8 thousand rubles. In our case, for 11,000 rubles, the user will receive a device with a unique design, a large display, a stable processor and a good audio chip. For fans of the gaming industry, there is a nice bonus - the smartphone supports most of the heavyweight games. It's also nice that the operating system runs on a lightweight shell and stably performs all daily tasks. The battery in the device is capacious, its work is enough for several days. Of course, there are also disadvantages: weak camera, lack of fast charging and NFC, the quality of the stereo speaker. Despite the shortcomings, the device is strongly recommended for purchase by users looking for a cheap and productive smartphone.
